I have to thank Kurt for asking the question. I think I now have two new diff tools.

I notice that winmerge does directory diffs and has a very similar interface to tortoiseMerge... Best of both worlds. I'll give it a try.

I was going to start looking for a GUI diff util for linux. I guess I will take xxdiff for a spin.

Hope Kurt feels his question is answered.
