Short lived branches are one of the usage
patterns that make branches tolerable.

On CVS, I might create and close three braches
per day, as a single developer. Haven't made
it easy enough to do that in Subversion yet,
though; it's more like I create a branch that
lasts about 3-6 hours every 3 days, but otherwise
avoid creating branches, i.e. avoid checking in.
