Subject: mod_auth_pam, pam_winbind, & apache require group

combination gives me an internal server error 500.

It's over a ssl connection, so the ssl error log gives me:

[Sat May 22 22:33:00 2004] [crit] [client 10.0.5.3] configuration error:
couldn't check access. No groups file?: /it

where IT is the name of the directory off of the server.

a require valid-user works ok, but not the require-group.

Any suggestions?
