RE: SVN Push and deployment

Hi Toby and Larry,

my point about symbolically linking directories was so that we could
arrange a high-level structure using a couple of different perspectives for
navigational purposes.

For example, I could create a directory structure that would go
project/component/server, or server/component/project, or project/server
component. At the end, of course, it would end up in the same place with the
same trunk & branches.

Consider the Yahoo! (or DMOZ :) ) directory as an analogy - many of
the directory nodes have links to other nodes, and you can navigate using
many paths to the same node in many cases.

In a large repository with multiple projects, components and servers
with overlap, as well as vendor files, documentation, and a mixture of
configuration and code, this simple construct can make a huge difference,
and lead to easier developer/admin acceptance (one of the major hurdles
IMHO)

svn:externals is an interesting and useful tool, but it does not hit
this particular mark. However, it will be very useful in my overall problem,
so thank you!

Cheers,

          :D

I don't think svn:externals works pointing to files directly, but
directories only.
