Thanks, unfortunately I now have to package the build from a system on
which I don't have root access, for proper installation on another
system. In other words, I need to use "--prefix=/my/home" when building
and "installing" on the other system, but I don't want any prefix when I
actually install it on my desired system!
Can anyone point me to a means of tricking "make install" into
installing to a temporary directory, so I don't have to use "--prefix"
when building (and thereby polluting all the dynamic link locations)? I
realize this is probably off-topic for the subversion list, but if I get
this right (and figure out HP's depot binary packaging system) I could
contribute the binary package for public consumption.
Also, to clarify, I wasn't able to get /gcc/ 3.2 or 3.4 built on my
system.. if anyone actually has a gcc binary of either of these two
versions, subversion might work. It was only gcc 3.3 I used to actually
build Subversion with (when I got the coredumps).
