Subverion times out.

Subversion very slow over internet.
Ive got a subversion server in Australia and one of the clients in London is
complaining that they can only checkin one file at a time or else it times
out completely. These are very small files - some only 50 lines long.

The person is using TortoiseSVN as the client. On a Broadband connection

Local connections to subversion are fine and ones from other sites in the
same city are fine too. Im pretty certain this is not entirely a network
issue as file transfers to that site are fine.

Does anybody know of any logical reason why it should be so bad? Nothing
else on that same connection is timing out.
