I'm trying to do the same thing as you....until now I thought I would
need to write a complicated script so thanks for the example.

Do you run this command on the server or the working copy? The reason I
ask is because we have 1 header file that contains software version
related information and I would love to have this stuff auto-updated
from the head revision information (ie date, time, number, etc...).
