I'm just quoting the documentation. I've only ever installed subversion
either from summersoft rpms, or from source in which case I get the code
from svn/CVS repositories.

Redhat tend to release heavily patched versions of important system
components, often backporting functionality. I have no idea what
they've done to httpd, apr-0.9.4 and subversion-1.0.1 in their FC2
candidates; you could have a browse of the SRPMs.
