RE: How to pronounce "subversion"

Not only did I hit send prematurely but I forgot to send to the LIST.

According to me subvert and subversive are pronounced identically --
well, up to the 'r' anyway. The stress goes on the 'ver'

Surely subversion = sub (as in submarine) + version (as in, well,
version?). In other words, emphasis goes on the 'ver' too.

Now I'm intrigued at which way you say the two examples, and which part
of Australia you're from. People from Seednee talk quite differently to
people in Melbourne (which is different again from Auckland of course,
although not that much).

Subject: How to pronounce "subversion"

Where does the emphasis go?
Is it pronounced like subvert, or subversive;
OR are the syllibles more distinct from each other as in submarine?

Cheers,
