Yah, .zip files are sooooo different. Also, self extracting
executables are beautiful because of how safe they are to use!

Again, that's your distro. If you want subversion packaged for it,
then package it properly. The reason that the windows install was so
smooth for you was someone bothered to package it up -- and the point
of my message was that some Unixes are equally well packaged. Don't
blame Subversion for the fact that you don't have a nice package for
your particular Linux.
