FYI, on NetBSD, the steps to build subversion, and all its
dependencies if you don't have them, from source, are:

cd /usr/pkgsrc/devel/subversion
make install

pkgsrc will then download, configure, patch and build subversion and
everything it depends on (including apr etc.)
