We only switched to SVN/TortoiseSVN recently and are currently doing the
migration from FreeVCS. I've never had to deal with previous versions of the
above software.

It seems that TortoiseSVN does that automagically. All spaces, for instance,
are replaced with %20. Perhaps this is a Tortoise bug, not Subversion. I
just wanted to make sure people don't encounter it with other Subversion
clients before I post it to the Tortoise list.
