Re: Berkeley DB error, repository broken

So, I thought I would follow up my own message from last night.
Obviously this issue is not a common one as there were no responses.

Here is what I have done:

Kept the upgraded kernel, glibc, nscd (for specifics see my original post).

I downloaded the latest berkeleydb (4.2.52) compiled it and the
recompiled both Apache and Subversion pointing to my berkeleydb
(--with-berkeley-db and --with-dbm=db4). I took my bakcup from saturday
morning and installed it on the machine.

I tried to create a new empty repository.... but no... that won't work
either:

svn: Berkeley DB error
svn: Berkeley DB error while creating environment for filesystem rrr/db:
Function not implemented

So it would seem that my server is now useless. I recovered my backup
which I installed on my Win2k laptop and there it works (I run 0.34 and
httpd 2.0.48 on my windows box as well).

So... without knowing what really is the cause for this I would think
twice before upgrading the kernel and glibc on a RedHat 9 installation ;-)

Now I will install a completely different server for this which will run
Mandrake instead (since Red Hat is dropping their Red Hat Linux product).

Regards
/Mikael Lundgren
