(Client Side) Merge Hook

I'd like to write a hook script that gets invoked after both updating and merging. I've got it working if I do an update (which I think means it also works for switching and for checkouts, but I haven't tested that), but I can't figure out how to make it run after doing a merge between branches.

Is there an easy way to do this?
