Yes...merging still abysmally slow..

Some statistics
Trunk: 38,822 objects, 331 folders, 2.63GB

A recursive checkout of a trunk
202.13 MBytes transferred in 3 minute(s) and 57 second(s)

auto-merge of feature branch back to trunk..
211 kBytes transferred in 46 minute(s) and 19 second(s)

That auto merge was from a feature branch that had a sparse checkout of a single object.
