Hello Joe,
"The XML response contains invalid XML" should be only the first part of
the error. There has to be a second line with the second part of the error.
So what is the complete and exact wording of the error?
I regret to say that it's still not clear what you mean by "update a sub
folder". Do you run `svn update` on one working copy and get the error, but
on the other working copy that update completes without errors? Or do you
`svn update` just one of subtrees of the working copy? Do you get any
errors when you `svn checkout` a working copy?
Do you run an antivirus on your server or client workstation? Is there any
proxy between the server and the client?
You could also check VisualSVN Server's event log to get some clues:
1. Start Event Viewer,
2. Navigate to Applications and Services Logs | *VisualSVN Server*.
BTW, VisualSVN Server 3.5.6 is already available to download, but your
server version is 3.5.0 as far as I see. I'd recommend keeping your server
up-to-date. Applying a patch update for VisualSVN Server is always painless
and fast; patch updates contain only bug fixes and no new features. Just
download and run the installer of newer version.
The same recommendation goes for TortoiseSVN. You could upgrade to
TortoiseSVN 1.9.4 that is now the latest one.
