Hi Marianne,
you should certainly try to find out what's causing the problem.
There are multiple possible causes. I for instance ran into this
situation due to my virus scanner messing around with the temp files.
Maybe you can give it a try to exclude the .svn directory of the
problematic working directory from your virus scanner and see if that
improves the situation?
Also some other 3rd party tools interacting with the file system might
cause this issue (as might some hard disc or other hardware issue).
I'm not aware of any changes between 1.9.3 -> 1.9.4 which might
improve/impact that particular case. So while it should still be a good
idea to upgrade, I would not expect any improvement by that upgrade
alone for your case.
