TortoiseSVN Update to revision does not show externals

When I have a repository containing externals and I look into the repository via the repository browser, then I see the external repositories listed (1).
When I update to a revision, I can omit externals. But when I don't tag this option (2) I expect that the listed directories contain the external repositories.
However this is not the case. The external repositories are not listed (3).
We are considering this a bug.
