FWIW, I turned that on the instant it was first introduced (back in 1.4 I think?) and have never had it off since. I don't know why anyone would ever not use it, other than not being aware of it.

(Although having said that, as covered in a previous thread it's not quite comprehensive enough when you have more than one layer of branches, but it's still better than nothing.)
