  Thank you for your reply. No, the overlays do not show up when I use the save as in notepad...only seems to happen in word or excel (I sometimes need to click F5 for them to show up, although F5 does nothing in windows explorer).

As for the version question, here is the information for tortoise

TortoiseSVN 1.8.11, Build 26392 - 64 Bit , 2015/03/19 18:50:20
