Imagine a tree about five leafs deep. When refreshing like you want to,
the repo browser would have to refresh each one of these five leafs.
Now considering the time it takes to refresh one leaf alone, you can
imagine how long it would take to refresh five of them.

So I'll stay with the behavior that's implemented now.
