The current behaviour is even weirder than that, actually. The double-click still works in the commit dialog. And in the windows where double-click fails, if you do right-click Compare then you get the changes not only to the folder itself but to all subitems as well (which can be a pain when you're looking at the root or something near the root, both due to being slower and having to hunt for the change you really want).

But never mind, 'twill be fixed now according to Stefan's latest post.
