When you say "does not work" what do you mean? There is no log? The
log is corrupted? TortoiseSVN crashes? The server crashes?

Have you tried clearing the log cache?

Have you tried the command line equivalent:

svn log -v -r 0:HEAD --limit 100 [--stop-on-copy]
Absolute-path-to-your-working -copy
