I've been using TSVN for about 8 years and until the 1.8 release didn't even know the feature existed. So, I would have to guess that the logic for parsing filenames changed with 1.8. I agree that there are other cases where it would be helpful, but I would LOVE to be able to just turn off suggestions with a setting.
