new hard drive, all new set up, and I am struggling!

The hard drive on my computer was failing and therefore there was hasty backing up of all documents before it went off to get a new one.

I have set up nearly everything as it was, bar TortoiseSVN and I am not too proud to say that I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.

I have a folder containing all my programming files that I have always backed up to a server in our department using tortoise SVN. The versions on the server however are not the most recent, as when my computer was failing I was more worried about getting everything onto an external hard drive rather than SVN.

So, I have:

* a server address for my files that goes something like: https://groupname.departmentname.universityname.ac.uk/svn/Beth
* versions of files on the server that are not the most recent
* versions of files on my computer that are the most recent
* a copy of TortoiseSVN Version 1.8 on my machine
* a copy of the help files that don't seem to be too helpful to me at the moment
...
* and no clue how to go about getting the server address as my reprository, syncing my most up to date files and setting it up in general.

I am afraid to say that someone did it for me on my machine's previous incarnation, I obviously didn't pay enough attention.

thanks,
Beth
