Sorry, there's no option to have that checkbox enabled by default. And
it's highly unlikely that there ever will be:
* older servers don't return merge data, only newer ones
* it's a magnitude slower to get the log messages with the merge info
* it makes the server use much more disk and CPU cycles when merge info
is requested
* merge info is not cached in the log cache, so it's even more slow
