RE: Re: System shutdown causes Tortoise to forget the log message in an open commit dialogue

Sorry not to have spotted your query earlier, and thanks for the fix.
The reason this happens to me is largely that (a) I tend to make quite large comments, partly as part of a process of reviewing all changes and cleaning up code (e.g. stuff in right headers) before committing, and I sometimes as prepare these comments as a background activity while waiting for other stuff, and (b) every now and then I find myself more or less forced to restart the system to get MSW to behave itself (MSW and I are not as kind to each other as we should be), or to install some updates. If MSW is not totally hung I can of course cancel the dialogue, but I sometimes forget or find myself assuming that I do not need to.
It may not be the ideal way of using Tortoise/Svn, but on the whole it works for me. Our WC is mainly mainly C source; the .svn directory is ~350Mb.
Incidentally, I sometimes hit <Ctrl>-S in the dialogue and then realise it hasn’t helped; hitting <Esc> and restarting is not so convenient, and feels riskier than it is!
