Commit stuck during network failure

Our SVN repositories are accessed through an internal network. The last couple of days we have been having issues with the internal network going down unexpectedly.

I try to commit only when I think the network is up, but then the commit gets stuck on "Sending content, X Bytes transferred, at 0 Bytes/s" and I find that the network is down again. I try to click cancel, but, no mater how long the dialog sits, it won't respond until the network goes back up.

I once got a connection time-out error, but that happened almost right away, so I'm thinking the connection must be getting interrupted *after* the commit dialog has already established a connection.

My TortoiseSNV-related issue here is that interrupted connections are not being recognized (and timing out instead sitting forever) and the Cancel button does not work in these circumstances.
