The only way the commit dialog is closed without then a commit actually
happening (i.e., the progress dialog showing up) is if no files were
checked in the commit dialog.

or if there's a crash happening, but then you would get a crash dialog
showing up.

So please make absolutely sure that you check (not select) the files you
want to commit (there must be a checkmark at the left of the files).
