The file was a java file and the user said they did not see it in the list at all, others had conflicts.

I am guessing the data was lost via other mechanisms (eclipse or something else) and they did not realize it, or they inadvertently undid the work somehow.

I wanted to confirm with the experts that update has no mechanism to undo changes.
