I haven't problems during checkout and update if I use svn (version 1.7.5).
Can you please explain me why? It is the same computer with the same virus scanner. Did subversion solve the conflict with virus scanners?
Unfortunately I am not able to uninstall the existing virus scanner. It is installed by the company.
The mentioned issue with a big working copy is not repairable with Tortoise SVN and also not with svn.
What can I do? Delete the .svn folder?
I wanted to add a folder with files to the repository. Then again a "Release" error was shown.
After that the working copy was broken.
I have now tried to checkout a second working copy. First with Tortoise SVN. But I got again an "Release" error after about 20 seconds.
Then I cleaned up the new working copy and tried to update the working copy. Again and again update and cleanup with the "Release" error.
I have repeated this about 10 times.
Then I had enough and started to update the working copy with "svn" in a cmd window. It needed about 30 minutes without errors.
Why does svn works and Tortoise SVN not?
Could you please explain me why the virus scanner is the guilty one?

If you haven't changed the component which is actually the root cause
of the problem (the AV software), why would you expect anything to
improve?
