Now, that's the hint I needed:
unfortunately, tagging the externals when the branch/tag dialog is
started from the log dialog isn't even implemented!
So basically, it never worked and simply can not work.

So either I have to change the branch/tag dialog in case it's started
from the log dialog, or implement tagging the externals there as well.
