Windows 7, all folders appear svn

I've just downloaded 1.7.1 on a windows 32 bit machine. I'm trying to checkout to a project to a local directory, but the checkout get interrupted immediately.

The strange thing is that even if I create a new folder and rightclick to bring up the context menu, I get the options to update or commit, even though the new folder is not versioned in any way.
