two projects in SVN, but not when viewed with VisualSVN / VS2010

At some point two projects went into "limbo".

All of the following are "sometimes or always":

ONLY IN Visual Studio 2010, the projects don't show as being in SVN.

No matter how many times I choose "Add to Subversion", "Add to
Subversion" remains on the context menu.

(It does apparently make a pass through the project, with many
"Warnings:" for files such as "minified" JavaScript that should
legitimately not be in Subversion.

I've detached the project, rebooted my computer, checked for updates.

I have no idea how to proceed. VisualSVN is "just wrong", but with no
error messages of any kind.
