However, Symantec's Norton WinDoctor pointed out that the program SubWCRev.exe in C:\Program Files\TortoiseSVN\bin wants to use the library msvcp90.dll but would be unable to find it. I "stole" a copy from FireFox 4 and put it into the aforementioned directory, so I am all set. However, I suggest that the installation procedure should provide this file in an acceptable location, be it the local directory as I have chosen (and a few other programs on my machine have done also) or C:\Windows\system32 (as it is called on my Windows XP SP3 system).

I don't know how WinDoctor determined that, but it's wrong. The
TortoiseSVN installer does include msvcp90.dll--it goes in the
side-by-side directory
(C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC90.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_9.0.30729.4148_x-ww_d495ac4e
on my system), and SubWCRev is able to find it there without any problems.
