Commit dialog box won't open from the list of modified files

Hello,

My TortoiseSVN stopped making it possible to open the commit dialog box from
a right-click on the list of modified files obtained via the "Check for
modification" menu item.
No error message is shown, and nothing happens.

Is there a way to switch some debug mode on to try and understand what is
wrong.
Uninstalling/re-installing tortoise did not help.

Same kind of behaviour, in the "settings" dialog box, nothing happens if I
click on "Check now" to check for newer version of tortoise.

Right-click / commit from the windows explorer works, though.
