I'm not using VS2010 SP1, just the RTM, and even if I edit files in Notepad++, VS2010 only seems to notice this some of the time. So the problem isn't limited to SP1, and TSVN is not the only thing that causes it. I consider this a VS issue.
In fact, it's not even a new issue, it's been seen in VS2010 RC and in VS2008 SP1:
Unfortunately, this means your best strategy is to close Visual Studio during updates. Following that, look at the update listing for clues, and be very careful to diff your files before committing.
