Issues with encoding and patching due to 'NUL' character

Hi all,
I have a source file, which when I create a patch shows a 'NUL' character before every character. And when I try to apply that patch, the patch is not getting applied at all due to some line mismatch. What could be the issue and how to work around it? I am using the latest version of TortoiseSVN
