My database is messed up

My database seems to have become somewhat corrupted. If I try to commit my
project, Tortoise tells me that nothing has changed and there's nothing to
do. But if, on one particular file, I do a Diff with Previous Version, it
shows me differences.

Why is this likely to have happened?

How do I get everything back in step?
