Sounds familiar. What I did was configure TSVN to not select any files by
default, then only select those few I want committed.

I would actually prefer a different alternative... When a commit fails, the
commit dialog just pops back up again. I'd like the same to happen when there
are still files left uncommitted, i.e. that the commit dialog pops up again
with those files. It wouldn't have to rebuild the list (which is what takes
time) but just use the existing info.

I could even imagine that the dialog stays open even without any files changed
and communicates with the rest of TSVN to get notified of changes in state.
If files change, they are added to the list, where you can select and commit
them then.

In any case, part of this can just as easy be achieved from the "check for
modifications" dialog, so I'm not even sure if I shouldn't just adjust my
expectations instead... ;)
