I think I now know what is going on. It turns out each folder has its own ".svn" hidden folder. Inside of that fold is a file called "entries". Inside of that file are the references to <website>:8080. When I changed those entries to use 8443 instead of 8080 - the messages I get now say <website>:8443 and that the connection was closed. (Rather than no such connection available.) I probably need to check my server to make sure I have it set up to allow outside connections (which would explain being able to connect at home but not at work). Still, it sounds like the person who originally posted could benefit from what I just learned. AND! Obviously the "clear" button isn't clearing everything like it should. (Just a FYI.)
