Think tent pegs or clothes pegs.

A non-IT metaphor would be when someone's bank loan rate is pegged to the
central bank's interest rate. Also, exchange rates are sometimes pegged to
the rate of another currency.

A "peg revision" here is a noun, whereas "to peg" is a verb.
