It might also be worthwhile to note that the project properties are
inherited from the parent directory when a directory is added to a working
copy, but not when a directory is added through the repository browser.

I think this is noted elsewhere in the documentation, but I couldn't locate
it when I did a quick search just now, however I ran a test case to confirm
this behavior (occurs when using `Create folder` or `Add folder`).
