Path must be an immediate child of the directory

When I want to see a diff, either in the log window or the repository browser, I often get an error message like this:

Path '//devbox/working-copy/site/web/css/general.css' must be an
immediate child of the directory ''
Error reading spooled REPORT request response

It happens pretty often but I haven't been able to find much info about the issue. Is it a known bug or am I doing something wrong?
