TortoiseSVN doesn't work

I have XP/SP2 and have installed the latest 32-bit version of
TortoiseSVN. When I right-click on a folder in Explorer I see 2
options: one is check-out and the other is a menu of other TortoiseSVN
options. But when I click on either of these nothing at all happens. I
have tried re-installing, thinking maybe something got corrupted, but
I get the same result. Nothing. I've been trying to figure this out
for a while now and have run out of ideas, so any help would be
greatly appreciated.
