"There is an externals overlay in the check-for-modifications dialog."

Yeah but that only works when there are are actual changes (i.e. you already goofed and changed an external).

Im looking for an tsvncache icon overlay option that can identify a file/dir as an external so that its a "heads-up" for people - before someone actually starts editing / modifying the external, i think that would be very useful in a number of ways.

there are already general icons for "normal", "modified", "conflicted", "ignored", etc... but nothing that identifies the item as an external at a glance.

from my knowledge the only ways to know if it is an external is:
1. if your the one who added in the external, and the only person using the project; 2. if you unknowingly modify an external and try to commit, and get an error message, and research why you are getting that message; 3. modify the file, and then use the check-for-modifications gui option (but not many people that I know of even use or know about the check-for-modifications dialog); or 4. have psychic powers :)
[ok... well i thought the last one was funny]
