Ah, you have a svnserve running. That was not clear from your posting.

It sounds like you have a configuration/network problem. Do you have any
firewall running that might block the protocol?

Problems with show log as well? what does the command line client say
when you enter "svn log svn://svnhost/gold"? If that errors out too,
it's surely not a TSVN problem.

but this local server runs on a different machine, not your own PC?
Inside the company network? With a firewall between your PC and the server?
