HI!
It is probably some router or firewall "being smart".
Vista has certain changes in its TCP/IP stack compared
to XP. I think it is related to a thing called "TCP Window Size".
It can be set to be as in XP. Google for it. It is a single
command line that changes the option.

PS: Or your Vista PC's have some SW that the XP doesn't, like
antivirus, _firewall_ , etc...
