That does seem rather odd, but it definitely did the trick for me. I don't know exactly what the changes were, but is it possible there was some unintended interaction with the filesystem? Or perhaps something went bad with my install of 1.5.5?

Just wild guesses, really - I just want to keep up to date without having this problem show up again...
