New users often find interesting ways to corrupt working copies by
deleting, modifying or moving the .svn folder. Don't do that. It's
hard to tell what happened in this case; I suggest you backup any
changes you made somwhere, delete your working copy, and do a new
checkout. Your normal workflow should not require you to touch these
.svn folders in any way.
